This is a crazy
black, white and red handspun yarn.
(with metallic crochet cotton) It
required a lot of concentration. I
layered several rovings and the
crochet cotton and spun it all at
once, together. I really should have
pre-drafted, I might have enjoyed
the spinning more. It's a wee 1.8 oz,
37 yards. I was playing around with
the candy striping technique, I
wanted to stop. I am happy with the
results though, and probably should
have stuck it out longer.

C'est un fil fou
noir, blanc et rouge (avec du coton
à crocheter métallique). Ca m'a
demandé beaucoup de concentration.
J'ai superposé plusieurs mèches et
le coton et ai filé le tout d'un
seul coup. J'aurais vraiment dû
pré-étirer, j'aurais filé avec plus
de plaisir. Il pèse 1.8 or et fait
37 yards. Je me suis amusée avec la
technique du sucre d'orge, je
voulais m'arrêter. Enfin je suis
contente du résultat même si
j'aurais dû faire plus long.

Apparemment, pour
certaines races de tricoteurs, la
taille importe ! Quand j'ai commencé
à vendre mes fils filés main, je
répondais à des questions du type
"pourquoi vos écheveaux ne sont pas
plus grands" ? au moins 2 fois par
semaine. (Hé bien mes bobines ne
peuvent pas contenir tant que ça !)
Pour satisfaire ces demandes, je me
suis acheté un rouet jumbo.
Maintenant je peux filer tout un lot
de teinture sur une seule bobine. Ça
a été une sorte de challenge mental
de pour remplir la bobine, et
finalement j'ai réussi : (hé, je
suis fière, vous êtes en présence de
vraie circonférence et de vraie
longueur ici !) 420 mètres pour 450
grammes . (Ok, il faut que je le
redise, parce que c'est un vrai pas
en avant pour moi : 420 mètres de
fil dodu !!!) et juste pour
l'échelle, il est de la taille d'un
petit bébé.

started selling my handspun yarn, i
would answer the question ‘why
aren’t your hanks bigger?” at least
twice a week. (well, my bobbins can
only hold *so much*) to satisfy
these requests, i bought myself a
bulky spinner. now, i can get an
entire dyelot on a bobbin. it has
been a kind of mental challenge to
try to fill it up. and finally!! i
did. (hey, i’m impressed; i have
some girth and length happening here.
very satisfying.) 458
yards, and one pound. (ok, i need to
say it again, because it is a major
feat for me, 458 yards of bulky
weight!!!) and just for scale.. it
is the size of a small baby. |
